The Clarets’ winger topped up an hour’s run-out in an in-house game last Thursday with 82 minutes as an over-age player in the Under-23s.

And while the winger was unable to help Burnley avoid a 3-0 defeat to Hull City at the Tameside Stadium, he got the valuable game-time that will edge him nearer a long-awaited return to first-team duty.

“It was great to get the minutes in. It was a disappointing result in the end but good for myself to get the minutes in,” said Brady, whose comeback from a knee injury he sustained last December was interrupted by a set-back during the Clarets’ pre-season schedule.

“It’s been a long number of months now but I’m feeling better as the weeks have gone on since I picked up that knock in pre-season.

“I feel really good so, please God, it’s not much longer. I feel almost ready and I’m itching to get back.”

The Clarets’ injury situation is improving, with Steven Defour likely to be involved in some capacity in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup third-round tie at Burton Albion.

And Brady – whose presence has also been missed in the early weeks of the season – is just as keen to be back to help build on last weekend’s first Premier League win over Bournemouth.

“It was a great result on Saturday, and well needed, so hopefully we can build on that in the next few weeks and pick up some more like that,” added the Republic of Ireland international.
