Tony Philliskirk secured his first win since as U18s boss with a ding-dong 4-3 victory over Bolton Wanderers.

The Clarets led three times in a thrilling game, but trailed 2-3 before two late strikes handed them the points to keep them fourth in the table.

Burnley took the lead just six minutes into the game.

The Clarets had started brightly and were rewarded through a well-worked set-piece routine, as Vinnie Steels laid the ball into the path of Dylan Meredith, who fired the ball into the bottom corner.

Bolton duly equalised on the half-hour mark with a close-range effort, but that was short lived as Michael Fowler restored the lead four minutes later, with a smart finish inside the box.

The home side came out raring to go from the restart and they snatched two quick-fire goals to take the lead on the hour-mark.

But it was Burnley who refused to buckle and levelled things up again as Fowler coolly slotted the ball home for his second, after latching onto a defensive error.

And Philliskirk’s side then turned the game on its head to lead one more time, as Mitch George latched onto a cross at the back post and tapped the ball home.

Despite Bolton’s late pressure to snatch yet another equaliser, Burnley resolutely kept the hosts at bay to secured all three points.
