Boss Sean Dyche admits defender Ben Mee is ‘touch and go’ as the Clarets aim for a fourth straight home win against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Mee missed last Saturday’s defeat at Ipswich Town with the foot injury he sustained in Burnley’s win over Leeds United just over a week ago.

The 23-year-old is battling to be fit but if he doesn’t make it in time could again be replaced by Danny Lafferty following his return from international duty with Northern Ireland.

“Ben is still touch and go,” confirmed Dyche.

“Everyone else has settled down nicely. The week has been good for that to make sure people are in good shape, so as we speak Ben is the only one who is a bit touch and go and we will have to wait and see.

“Laffers has had a game in the week so he has rested today (Thursday) in preparation to be involved on Saturday.

“He did well again for Northern Ireland and that can only help his confidence.”

Lafferty (above) impressed in his first Championship start of the season at Portman Road before playing the full 90 minutes for Ireland on Wednesday night as he made his competitive debut in a World Cup qualifying draw against Azerbaijan.

He then reported back to Gawthorpe after flying back into the country on Thursday morning.

Lafferty is therefore available to face the Addicks but Dyche will be forced into one change with winger Ross Wallace serving a one-match ban.
