The wingman and Under-23 team-mate Christian N’Guessan both signed contract extensions before flying out with Steve Stone’s squad for their pre-season training camp in Poland.

Bayode was a near permanent fixture in the side that finished fourth under Stone in the Professional Development League last season.

And the 20-year-old wants to add to his goal output next season and earn the chance to play some senior football.

“As a team it was good to challenge in the league and go quite far in the cups last season. Individually, it would maybe have been nicer to score more goals,” said Bayode, who hit the target half-a-dozen times.

“I normally set myself a target of around 15 a season, but anywhere around that would be good.

“It’s a personal goal. The best players in the world always score 20-odd goals a season so to try and be somewhere near that would be really good.”

Bayode has climbed the ranks at Turf Moor since joining the Academy set-up and then progressing through his two-year scholarship to become a professional for the first time this time 12 months ago.

The pacy wideman has seen plenty of changes in his time as a Claret and hopes the next chapter of his career will be a taste of senior football after earning a renewed 12-month stay.

“The whole thing is a lot more modernized in terms of facilities since I started,” added the Peak District-raised Bayode.

“From having one pitch, there are now 12 or 13. But the ethos of the club has stayed the same, which I think is really good.

“It’s really good to have signed again. I’m excited to see what the next year holds and hopefully I can play some first-team football somewhere.

“Every year is important but as you get older it’s more important to get into a first-team environment, here or at another club.

“It would be good to get some experience somewhere and then maybe be a bit nearer our first team.”
