A prolific striker at youth team level and increasingly a regular in the reserves, Jackson was awarded a 12-month professional contract at the end of the 2010/11 season.
A broken foot in pre-season delayed his progress but a return to fitness saw him play in the reserves and gain a place on the bench for the Clarets' FA Cup third-round tie at Norwich.
He then joined hometown club AFC Barrow for a first taste of senior football, scoring on his Blue Square Premier debut against Fleewood.
The loan spell was extended and Jackson took his goal tally to three before he was recalled by the Clarets and given a first-team debut as a substitute at Blackpool in April, 2012.
