Club football has shut down for a fortnight but that doesn't mean the work has stopped at Turf Moor.
As well as regular training, the Clarets' squad is also undergoing a series of physical tests to make sure they will be in peak condition when the Championship campaign resumes.
Burnley kick-off again against Preston after the international break on Saturday, 11th September to launch an important run of seven games in three weeks.
"We are testing the players this week to see where we are in terms of the physical condition and whether we are happy with the way things are," said manager Brian Laws.
"We will be reviewing our season so far and that's not just about the results.
"We are also looking at the physical aspects of how the players are performing and where we need to improve and integrate that into our next period, which is a block of seven games in 21 days."
Laws added: "That spell will be a real test of character and of our squad because it will certainly be stretched.

The Clarets have been working hard on the training ground
"We need to make sure the players are ready and physically and mentally able to cope with that."
With Laws keeping his squad intact following the closing of the transfer window he will hope to have a strong hand for the burst of six Championship fixtures and a Carling Cup tie with Bolton.
Chris Iwelumo is awaiting the full verdict on a hamstring strain and Tyrone Mears will miss the visit of Preston due to a one-match ban.
But Michael Duff is closing in on a return to full fitness and Laws will have his fingers crossed that Andre Bikey, Martin Paterson and Jack Cork all return unscathed from international duty.
