Brian Laws will wait until the end of the week before deciding whether he needs a replacement for the injured Chris Iwelumo.
But if the Clarets' boss does feel the need to bolster his squad, it won't be with former loanee David Nugent!
Nugent had been reportedly linked with a move back to Turf Moor following a successful season-long loan stay last season.
However, the finances involved always made a deal a non-starter, with Nugent apparently looking to stay in the Premier League.
And Laws is keeping his fingers crossed that Iwelumo will not be sidelined for long following the hamstring injury he sustained at Swansea last Saturday.
"On the advice of the specialist the course of action with Chris is to allow the injury to calm down and to get a clearer picture in the next few days," Laws told www.burnleyfc.com.
"Whenever there is a strain or a pull there is a tendency to bleed in that area and all a the scan would show would be a lot of blood.
"Once that calms down there will be a much clearer picture and we will get a clearer view of where we are with Chris.

Waiting game for Chris Iwelumo
"Hopefully it will be a small time out of action rather than a longer period.
"That will also give me an indication of where we have to plan and whether we have to bring in reinforcements which I will do if that's the right thing to do as the (loan) window opens again in seven days.
"But that will only be dictated by what we get back on Chris and everyone is confident that it won't be too serious."
Any absence for Iwelumo - who has been forced to pull out of Scotland's squad for their Euro 2012 qualifying double-header - would leave a hole in the Clarets' front line following his two-goal to start the season.

No Turf Moor return for David Nugent
But Laws killed off all the speculation surrounding Nugent as Monday's 6pm transfer deadline approached.
"Because we could possibly be looking down that avenue, a lot of media have been putting two and two together with Nugent being here last season and being successful and the fact that we liked him," Laws added.
"However, the financial side of things make it unrealistic."
