Posted on: Sat 21 Aug 2010

The Clarets' pair of Andre Bikey and Martin Paterson have both been called up for international duty next month.

Paterson has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their opening European Championships' qualifier away to Slovenia on Friday, 3rd September.

Paterson won his 12th-cap when he returned to international for Northern Ireland's friendly defeat in Montenegro earlier this month.

Nigel Worthington's team has been grouped with Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Estonia and the Faroe Islands in the race to qualify for Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Bikey will be heading to Mauritius with Cameroon for an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, 4th September.

The defender won a re-call to the Cameroon squad for their recent 3-0 friendly win over Poland after being overlooked for the Indomitable Lions' unsuccessful World Cup finals campaign.

And he is included in the first squad named by new national coach and former Spain boss Javier Clemente.

"It was good to be back in the national team and it was good to come back with a good result," Bikey told BFCTV.

"Unfortunately we didn't do anything nice in the World Cup so we have to forget about that and look forward.

"We have a new manager and now hopefully everything will be as everyone wants."

Scotland are yet to name their squad for their Euro 2012 double-header against Lithuania and Liechtenstein.
