Here and in venues across Burnley, a community project called "Clarets Creative" is setting about recording memories of

Burnley fans from great matches to rituals and superstitions.

Over the coming year , the project will create an exhibition at Towneley Hall that will not only act as an archive for the future but also a celebration of the past and the journey we have all been on since the proud beginnings of Burnley FC.

You can get involved in this project, by joining in with free workshops where you will meet others and learn some new skills. Alternatively you may want to volunteer for the project - helping to record stories or support others to get involved.

The project, which is the brainchild of Occupational Therapist Iain Broadley, from Lancashire Care Trust, is a recognition of the important role that football plays in the life of the local area. As Iain explains:

"Football really matters in Burnley. Being creative also really matters to our health and well-being. By linking the two things and creating something for the town to cherish, you will be doing something positive, interesting and worthwhile".

Janet Swan explains more about the workshops and recordings. "Workshops held so far have been great fun. We have had club photographer Andy Ford, local designer Sam Crowder and local writer Mervyn Hadfield. We have also had some great stories told to us some of which will go on the back of these fantastic football cards that we have started to create:

Janet continues: "Have a look at the Clarets Creative website and you will see and hear some of that material, and if you would like to get involved in any way or are prepared to tell us your stories of being a Clarets fan, we want to hear from you!"
