Clarets midfielder Graham Alexander believes the Burnley players are already over the disappointment of relegation and ready to challenge for immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

Alexander was an integral part of the side that fell just short of survival last term. But the Scotland international believes everyone at the club is now looking forward, rather than dwelling on what could have been.

"The disappointment has gone now and we're confident and positive of the season ahead," said Alexander.

"We are back in the Champioship now which is a great league to play in, but also a tough league. There are enough players in the squad who want to win and want to get promoted again".

Now with Premier League experience under their belts, Alexander feels that Burnley have a strong squad, that should expect to be amongst the front runners for promotion.

"We're confident in ourselves, we've got a strong squad, a really competitive squad and there are a lot of players who can come into the first team which will be vital if we want to go back up," added Alexander.

Alexander has already tasted success this season, lifting the FIS Asian Challenge Cup, on the Clarets pre-season tour in Singapore and will be hoping to take that form into the big kick-off against Nottingham Forest on August 7.
