Burnley's pitch continues to undergo major renovation work ahead of the Championship season (gallery below)
The worn out Turf Moor pitch is being re-laid at a cost of around £750,000 ahead of the 2010/11 season.
The heavy workload includes a fully reconstructed pitch that includes new irrigation and undersoil heating.
Workmen have dug down over a metre deep into the surrounds to lay the new piping, and the final preparations are now being made to install the undersoil heating.
During these major works, a whopping 7,500 tonnes of waste has been excavated from the previous construction.
This has filled over 350 wagons to move this material off-site.
The reconstruction work has included 2,500 tonnes of stone gravel, 3,500 tonnes of sand and 1,500 tonnes of root zone.
The under soil heating pipework stretches an incredible 22 miles, and there are an additional 650 metres of irrigation pipework.
When seeded, the new Desso Grassmaster surface will be watered by 24 new pop-up, remote controlled sprinkler heads
The hard-wearing Desso Grassmaster surface, similar to that installed by many top Premier League and European clubs, features a hard-wearing surface that is a mixture of natural grass and man-made fibre reinforcements, will complete the summer work.
