'Team of the 70's' To Make Draw

Posted on: Thu 25 Feb 2010

Burnley have some special guests at Turf Moor on Saturday, with the 'Team of the 70's' making the half-time draw during the Portsmouth game, in tribute to Jimmy McIlroy.

Chief Executive Paul Fletcher will be joined on the pitch by his team mates from the 70s, Ian Brennan, Frank Casper, Eddie Cliff, Martin Dobson, Mick Docherty, Brian Flynn, Ray Hankin, Leighton James, Steve Kindon, Geoff Nulty and Dave Thomas.

All the above players will be attending a special function on Saturday evening at the club, hosted by Fletcher and Kindon and as a nod to the 1950s, when McIlroy lit up the stage at Turf Moor.

Guests are invited to wear flat caps if they wish, as per the dodgy looking trio above!

Unfortunately this event is now sold-out, but The Jimmy McIlroy Testimonial Committee are proud to announce a Gala Dinner on Friday 23 April 2010.

Celebrity guests include Sir Michael Parkinson, Tommy Docherty, International Opera star Sean Ruane and David "Bumble" Lloyd.

Tickets £50 each or £450 for a table of 10
