Sandy: Let's Go Into Break On A High
Sandy Stewart hopes that hard work put in on the training ground has finally rid Burnley of their defensive errors.
The Clarets go into Saturday's Championship clash with Plymouth Argyle on the back of two successive clean sheets and three in five games.
However, it is the seven goals shipped in the opening two league games that have led to two defeats and a stalling start to the season.
And Stewart now wants another solid performance to left everyone at Turf Moor going into the two-week international break.
The Clarets assistant boss said: "We are looking forward to Saturday after a positive result on Tuesday night.
"It would be great to go into the international break with a first league win under our belt and a home game against Plymouth gives us that opportunity.
"But we know it's going to be a tough game.
Clean sheets have been our main concern and it's strange because we've had three in five games now, but clearly the goals we've conceded in the other two stand out.
"I think with the players we have, we couldn't have foreseen the start we had.
"It did give us a rethink, but over the course of the last fortnight Owen, Steve Davis and myself have worked on that and there has been a lot of time spent on the training ground.
"Much of it has been repetitive stuff, but it was stuff that needed to be fixed and hopefully we are reaping the dividends."
Two Burnley players could reach milestones this weekend.
Skipper Steven Caldwell is on the verge of a 50th league appearance, while 21-year-old Chris McCann is set to make a 100th Championship appearance for the Clarets.

McCann opens the scoring
It's a remarkable achievement for the young Irishman, who has become a mainstay of the midfield in recent seasons.
And Stewart feels McCann could become a beneficiary of a new midfield system that gives him a license to add to his current 12 goal haul.
He said: "We have changed the system a little in the middle of the park to have Graham Alexander sit in there and that encourages both Chris and Kevin McDonald to get forward a little bit more.
"They can do that with their fitness because they are young men with great energy levels.
"Chris, in particular showed that on Tuesday night, when he was a goal threat every time he got close to goal."

Sandy's entire pre-match press conference will also be on Clarets World on Friday morning.
But in the meantime, subscribers can tune into a Clarets World interview with McCann ahead of his expected 100th league appearance.
