Queen of the South 1 Burnley 1
Burnley kicked off their Scottish pre-season tour with a 1-1 draw against Queen of the South at Palmerston Park.
New £1m striker Martin Paterson opened up his account for the Clarets late in the first half but the Clarets were given a good work-out against the UEFA Cup qualifiers, who drew level in the closing stages of the game.
The match represented the first opportunity for most supporters to see the new signings in action - and three of the new arrivals were given a starting berth.
However, Peruvian keeper Diego Penny, who finally arrived in the UK on Friday, was not named in the squad.
Dutch midfielder Remco van der Schaaf also missed out after picking up a niggling injury during the tour of America.
It was the hosts who created the first chance of the game on six minutes with Craig Barr heading unmarked into the arms of Brian Jensen.
Gary Arbuckle then went clean through on goal but was thwarted by the alert Jensen.
Midway through the first half, after smart work down the left-hand side, it looked as though Robbie Blake and Christian Kalvenes had carved out Burnley's first meaningful chance but the linesman's flag intervened.
And the left-back was once again involved minutes later as the Clarets looked to exert some pressure on Queen of the South, but the ball crossed the by-line before the lively Robbie Blake could connect.
Craig Barr again went close to putting the hosts in front eluding Chris McCann but Jensen comfortably saved diving to his right-hand post.
Seconds later Gary Arbuckle diverted a fierce cross from McQuilken, but again Jensen was equal to it.

But Burnley bounced back and in the 41st minute took the lead with Paterson opening his account for the club.
The Clarets' striker latched onto a through ball from Joey Gudjonsson before rounding the keeper and coolly slotting home from an acute angle.
Both teams returned for the second half unchanged, with Burnley starting brightly as Owen Coyle's side looked to extend their lead.
Gudjonsson floated in a ball which was laid-off by Blake into the path of McCann who fired narrowly over from 20 yards.
Arbuckle came close to equalising for Queen of the South, breaking the Clarets' off-side trap but seeing his shot smothered once again by the impressive Jensen.
Blake, one of Burnley's brightest performers, then tried his luck from 25 yards with a snap-shot.
Minutes later Paterson almost doubled his tally, firing narrowly over from an Elliott cross before he was replaced by Ade Akinbiyi.
But Burnley's lead wasn't to last and in the 85th minute Stewart Kean put the hosts level with a back-post header after the Clarets failed to deal with a corner.
McCann then fired over from 25 yards before substitute Alan Mahon tested keeper Bell with a free-kick as Coyle's side tried to force a winning goal.
