Hendrie joined the Clarets’ Development Squad in August 2015, joining from Derby County after starting his career at Manchester United.

Hendrie, who is the son of former Middlesbrough and Bradford City winger John, signed an initial one-year contract.

After some impressive displays for the Development Squad, the versatile defender joined Hartlepool United in October, 2015on a one-month loan, making three appearances.

The defender then joined League Two club York City in January 2016 on a one month loan, before the loan was extended until the end of the season.

While on loan at the Minstermen, Hendrie signed a new 18-month contract at Turf Moor.

And in August, 2016, the defender joined Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock on loan until the New Year, later extending that loan until the summer of 2017 and being a regular in Scotland's top flight.

In August, 2017, he joined Bradford City on loan until Janaury, 2018.
