Tony Philliskirk believes his side will be coming up against another different challenge tomorrow (Saturday), as his U18 side take on Barnsley in Professional Development League at Barnfield.
The Clarets are in fine form, after winning their last two games against Wigan Athletic and Oldham Athletic.
But Philliskirk admits his team will be facing a new kind of test, compared to their previous league matches against southern based sides (Bristol City, Millwall, Watford).
The U18s boss said: “We are now coming into the period of the season where we are playing more northern games. Obviously the opening few games were down south, where a lot of sides play 4-3-3 and the majority have very quick wingers and move the ball really well.
“I remember one of my first games last season after joining Burnley, against Barnsley at home, and it was just proper football.
“So, tomorrow we are expecting another tough encounter. We have looked at them play and they have some great players.
“I think that’s the mentality of Barnsley; hard-working, good players and a slightly different concept to how other teams play, so it is going to be another different challenge for the lads.
“I think it may be similar to Oldham, who we played last week in the cup. I think we will be getting pressed a lot more in these next couple of games.
“But I think they have many principals that are the same as us and it should be a great game of football for both sides.”
Barnsley who currently sit fifth in the table, just a point behind Burnley, won their last match 2-1 against Bolton Wanderers, which extended their unbeaten run to four games.
The match kicks off at 11am at the Barnfield Training Centre and live updates will be available on Twitter (@Burnleyofficial) throughout the game.
UPDATE: PITCH INSPECTION: There will be a pitch inspection at 7am on Saturday morning. Updates will be posted on Twitter.
