Women Looks To Bounce Back

Burnley FC Women back to business in the league with visit of Hull

25 September 2019

Burnley FC Women will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season as they welcome Hull City Ladies to the Ruby Civil Arena this Sunday.

The Clarets have enjoyed a string a good results, winning three and drawing one in their opening four fixtures.

However the team suffered a two-goal defeat by Sunderland AFC Ladies in the FA Women’s National League Cup last weekend, ending an unbeaten run of games going back to February.

Hull City Ladies have endured a tough start to the league season, facing top table sides Stoke City FC Women, Sunderland AFC Ladies, Derby County LFC and Huddersfield Town Women.

The Tigeresses currently sit bottom of the Northern Premier Division table but will undoubtedly be determined to bounce back at this weekend’s game.

Burnley FC Women First Team Manager, Matt Bee said: “Sunday’s game away to Sunderland was a good reminder for us of where we are at and also showed us the areas where we need to be better.

“We have to learn from that game and focus on preparing effectively for this weekend. It is crucial that we keep picking up points in the league and that is the expectation on Sunday against Hull.

“They have had a tough start but have faced some of the top teams in the league so the table won’t give a true reflection of their quality. We know it will be a tough test and every player will have to perform if we are to get three points.”

Kick-off is 2pm on Sunday 29th September and the game will take place at Padiham FC’s Ruby Civil Arena, 16 Well Street, Padiham, Burnley, BB12 8LE. Entrance is £3 for adults and £1 for under 16s.
