Johann Berg Gudmundsson joins the Clarets’ contingent on Euro 2020 qualifying duty after being confirmed in Iceland’s squad for their up-coming fixtures.
The Clarets’ wideman is part of a 25-man party named for Iceland’s Group H matches at home to Albania and Turkey.
Iceland – who have won one and lost one of their first two fixtures – face Albania in Reykjavic on Saturday, 8 June and Turkey at the same venue on Tuesday, 11 June.
Gudmundsson will be looking to add to his 72 caps and help Iceland stay in contention for a place in the finals for the second successive time following their memorable run to the quarter-finals at France 2016.
He joins Clarets’ team-mates Tom Heaton, Kevin Long, Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick and Matej Vydra on international duty in the Euro qualifiers, while Dwight McNeil is part of the England Under-20 squad which kicks off its Toulon Tournament campaign against Japan in southern France on Saturday afternoon.
