Ali Koiki is set for a first chance of League football after securing a loan move to Swindon Town.
The Clarets’ youngster has joined the mid-table League Two side on a deal until the end of the season.
Koiki’s switch to the County Ground follows an impressive run of games in the Clarets’ under-23s side.
The left-back, 19, has also been training within the senior set-up at Turf Moor and has been part of the Clarets’ match-day squad in recent weeks.
However, the return to fitness of Stephen Ward gets Burnley’s defensive unit back up to strength.
And Koiki’s move to Swindon, where he will play alongside and under the guidance of former Claret and current Town player-coach Matty Taylor, continues Burnley’s policy of looking to find loan moves for their young players to give them the experience of competitive first-team football.
Manager Sean Dyche said: "It’s Ali’s first time away from us, but he’s been going on nicely and needs that challenge.
"We want our young players to go and grow as professionals on and off the pitch and learn what life is all about, so we wish him well."
Koiki, who joined the Clarets in July, 2016, signed a professional contract last summer for 12 months with a further year's option.
