The Youth Team travels to Nottingham Forest for a top-of-the-table clash in the U18 Professional Development League on Saturday.
The Clarets have won their last three matches in all competitions under assistant manager John Townson and sit level on points in the northern group with the top two of Forest and leaders Sheffield Wednesday.
Forest are above Burnley on goal difference after winning five of their six games since losing on the opening day of the season.
And despite his own side's impressive form, following just two defeats of their own and an impressive 3-1 win at Birmingham City last time out, Townson knows his side are in for a tough test in the East Midlands.
Townson said: “Forest are a good side. They have won a lot of games and four of their last five. But so had Birmingham going into last weekend and we knew that was going to be a tough game.
“But the lads applied themselves magnificently well and worked incredibly hard for 90 minutes and got the result.
“They’re under no illusions they’re going to have to do that again and if they do, the result is there for us if we do the right things."
When the two sides met last season Burnley snatched all three points in a 3-2 win on a cold winter’s day in Nottingham.
And the points were shared in the reverse fixture at the Barnfield Training Centre, as an eight-goal thriller ended in a 4-4 draw.
