Five of the Clarets’ first-team squad are away on international duty in the coming week.
It’s a reduced contingent in this window, with Chris Wood’s New Zealand without a game and England defender James Tarkowski and Ireland trio Stephen Ward, Jon Walters and Robbie Brady all missing out through injury.
However, Irish defender Kevin Long and midfielder Jeff Hendrick are involved for the Republic of Ireland when they face Wales and Sam Vokes in Dublin on Tuesday, October 16 in the Nations League, hoping to reverse their 4-1 defeat in Cardiff last month.
Ireland precede that game by hosting Denmark, again in the Nations League, on Saturday, October 13.
In-form Vokes, who has score two goals in his last two games for the Clarets, could be in action before then for Wales, in this Thursday’s international friendly against Spain at the Principality Stadium, where he hopes to win his 60th cap.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson agan links up with Iceland in the prestigious friendly against World Cup winners France in Paris on Thursday.
That is followed by the visit of Switzerland to Reykjavik on Monday, October 15, in the reverse of last month's Nations League fixture, which Switzerland won at a canter, 6-0.
Finally, summer signing Matej Vydra is celebrating his return to the Czech Republic squad for the first time in two years, and will hope for game time in their two Nations League fixtures, in neighbouring Slovakia on Saturday and Ukraine on Tuesday, October 16.
