Unbeaten league run comes to an end

27 October 2018

The Clarets' four-game unbeaten run and 100% home record came to an end this morning, after suffering a 3-2 defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers.

John Townson's side fell behind just before the break, before Mitch Geroge grabbed the equaliser in the 53rd minute.

And Burnley were ahead through Michael Fowler shortly after, before Bolton pulled back level instantly.

The visitors then snatched the winner with five minutes to play.

The match started lively and both sides looked very much up for it in the Lancashire derby.

Burnley came close through a Fowler header, which fizzed just wide.

However, it was Bolton that took the lead in the 42nd minute, as a deflected effort from outside the box found the back of the net.

The Clarets came out raring to go after the break and got their deserved goal, as George rifled an effort into the top corner from outside the area.

And moments later the hosts took the lead, as Fowler curled the ball home from range.

However, the lead didn't last long, as Wanderers equalised just a minute later, through a curling effort into the bottom corner.

The Clarets pushed for a late third of the afternoon, however it was the away side that snatched all three points on a crisp morning at the Barnfield Training Centre.

The Bolton winger cut inside from the right, before unleashing a strike which sailed past Kai Calderbank-Park in the Burnley goal.

Burnley: Calderbank-Park, Connelly, Pruti, Thomas, Rain, Mupariwa, Kershaw, Conn-Clarke, Smith, Fowler, George (Fenlon 70). Subs unused; Chima, Allen, McGlynn, Yari.
