The Clarets’ under-23s will again visit neighbours Colne as part of their pre-season preparations this summer.
Michael Duff’s side will face the Reds – who just missed out on a place in the Evo-Stik North play-offs this season – at their Utility Renewals Stadium on Saturday, 14 July (KO 3pm).
The Clarets won 2-0 at Colne last summer as they built towards their first season in the U23 Professional Development League.
Burnley finished second from bottom of the league’s northern division but finished the campaign strongly with four wins in their final six games.
And with a number of new players set to sign at the start of July, Duff is optimistic about the prospects for next season.
The Under-23s’ boss (above) said: “I think we will be stronger next year.
“The players we have will be a year older and the ones coming in will add to the quality.
“We will still be a young group, but a year older and a year better.
“In the last six weeks of the season we saw a real upturn in performances, which led to an upturn in results.
“We’re not overly bothered about results, but normally the two marry together.
“I’m already looking forward to next season, with the group we’ve pretty much got together and one or two more to possibly come in.”
Tinashe Chakwana scored eight times last season
Forward Tinashe Chakwana and midfielder Mark Howarth have both confirmed their place in the under-23s’ squad for next season after signing professional deals at Turf Moor.
The pair – both 19 – have penned 12-month contracts with the option of a further year.
Chakwana, 19, finished as top scorer for the Duff's side last season, while Howarth will return to action next season after missing much of the campaign just ended with a back injury.
Details of further pre-season games will be released in due course.
