Burnley Football Club is proud to announce a major official publication later this year.
The Complete Clarets Collection, 1882 - 2018, is a comprehensive who’s who of Burnley Football Club, written by Ray Simpson and Wallace Chadwick.
This new book provides a detailed profile of every player who has appeared in a senior first-team game for Burnley Football Club since the club’s formation in 1882.
It is an extended version of “The Clarets Collection” and updates the careers of every player who appeared in that book.
It also features over 200 additional players who have made their debuts for Burnley since 1996, when “The Clarets Collection” was published.
Also included are full details of the hundreds of players who appeared for the club before the Second World War. This period, of course, takes in the first Golden Era at Turf Moor, including Burnley’s FA Cup triumph in 1914 and first Football League title in 1921, when several Turf Moor legends such as Jerry Dawson, Tommy Boyle, Bob Kelly and Bert Freeman graced this famous ground.
In total, more than 1,000 players are featured, together with every manager who has occupied the Turf Moor hot seat.
The work has been jointly compiled by Burnley FC Historian Ray Simpson, author of several books on the history of the Clarets, and his regular associate Wallace Chadwick, who was part of the editorial team behind “The Clarets Chronicles”, published in 2007. Between them the pair can boast more than a century of support for their local club.
The new book will be published in October or November 2018 and will be available initially in Burnley FC retail outlets. Later, books will be made available elsewhere.
However, a limited edition of individually numbered copies will be available by prior subscription, each one personally signed by both authors. Each subscriber’s name will be printed in the book, together with a short message.
All subscribers will be invited to an official launch of the book, which will take place at Turf Moor later in 2018, where subscribers’ numbered copies will be available for collection.
Every living Burnley player and manager featured in the book will be invited to the launch, offering a marvellous opportunity for Clarets’ fans to chat to their heroes and obtain autographs.
Details of the launch will be widely publicised on the Burnley FC website, in the club matchday programme and via local media, after the start of the 2018-19 season.
The book is being produced locally, printed by Peter Scott Printers Ltd of Burnley.
It will be A4 size, black and white with colour hardback and contain at least 400 pages.
The subscribers’ price will be £30 (plus £5 p&p) and the shelf/cover price will be £32.
Subscribers copies of the book can be ordered using the order form below, which should be printed off and completed and then sent to the address shown.
Leaflets containing an order form are also available at Turf Moor.
