The Clarets' Euro Route Map

Key dates and how it could shape up in the Europa League

14 May 2018

After posting their highest league finish since 1974, the Clarets head into Europe next season.

Sean Dyche’s squad will make their entry into the Europa League with the club’s first European tie for 51 years on Thursday, 26 July for the first leg of a second qualifying round tie.

The Clarets – who will play the second leg a week later – will know their potential opponents when the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds takes place in Nyon, Switzerland on Wednesday, 20 June.

Should Burnley go through, the third round of qualifying follows immediately over the next two Thursdays, with the two legs either side of the opening weekend of the new Premier League season on 11-12 August.

And if Dyche’s men successfully negotiate the two qualifying rounds, they will face a two-legged play-off for entry into the group stages of the competition.

The second leg of the play-off round takes place on Thursday, 30 August with the draw for the group stages – which involve matches home and away against three other sides on dates between 20 September and 13 December – following the day after in Monaco.
