James Tarkowski tonight becomes the 28th Burnley player to win a full England cap.
The Clarets’ defender is named in Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up to face Italy in a friendly at Wembley as England continue their build-up to the summer's World Cup finals in Russia.
England boss Southgate said: "James Tarkowski has done well with us, his club and he fits the way we play. We need to see other options at centre-back too for this summer."
Turf Moor team-mate Nick Pope starts on the bench.
Tarkowski takes the number of Burnley players to make it into the senior England side to four within the last two years, following on from Jack Cork, Michael Keane and Tom Heaton.
Martin Dobson had been the last Claret to be capped by England in 1974.
Former Oldham and Brentford centre-back Tarkowski, 25, is joined in the England line-up to face the four-times former World Cup winners by former Clarets full-back Kieran Trippier.
