James Tarkowksi made his international debut on Tuesday night, becoming the 28th Claret to feature for the Three Lions.
The defender played the full 90 minutes as England drew 1-1 with Italy. It was Tarks’ controversial late foul that, via VAR, awarded Italy an 87th minute penalty to equalise from. Nick Pope was on the bench for the duration of the match.
Elsewhere in Europe, Johann Berg Gudmundsson played 73 minutes as Iceland fell to a 3-1 defeat to Peru at the Red Bull Arena.
Conor Mitchell was an unused substitute as Northern Ireland U21s were held to a quiet 0-0 draw by Iceland U21s in the UEFA Euro U21 qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Dunne, on loan at Accrington Stanley, was not part of the Republic of Ireland U21 squad that beat Azerbaijan U21s 1-0 late in stoppage time in the UEFA Euro U21 qualifiers.
All the players will now return to Burnley to resume training for the business end of the Premier League season, with a trip to West Brom on Saturday the first of the final eight league fixtures.
