Burnley ranks fifth highest in the Premier League’s Matchday Fan Experience Survey 2017/18

Burnley fans surveyed between October 2017 and January 2018 have responded well to multiple club values, including how well its run and its ability to maintain the club’s ethos and traditions.

The results, produced by the Premier League, are based on responses from 1,117 Burnley match attenders in the 2017/18 season between October 23rd and January 1st

These achievements earned Burnley a Matchday Fan Experience score of 76.9 for 2018, compared to the Premier League average of 72.1, placing The Clarets fifth highest in the division.

The perception of the club’s performance across areas of fan engagement, squad recruitment, and openness and transparency has also improved, as 99% of fans feel positively towards the club (compared to the PL average of 76%).

Ninety-eight per cent of Burnley fans agree that the club is well run in 2017/18 - an improvement on the 70% who said the same during the 2016/17 season. 87% agree that the club performs well in the area of fan engagement (compared with 71% last season).

The Turf Moor Fanzone has also gone down well with the majority of Burnley fans, 77% of whom think that it improves the match-day experience thanks to the entertainment and food and drink it provides.

On the subject of match-day facilities, our match-day programme Turf is rated the third best in the Premier League with a rating of 4.5 out of 5. Our customer services are also praised, specifically our club staff (3rd in the league), catering staff (3rd in the league), and ticket office staff (2nd in the league). The club also tops the table for mobile phone signal.

As for community initiatives, 74% of Burnley fans in 2017/18 say that, when ranked alongside everything that Burnley does on and off the pitch, community initiatives are very important to them (compared with 60% the season prior).

Encouragingly, 87% feel that the club is good at telling fans about the work that it is doing in the community (compared with 78% last season).

Overall, 91% of Clarets fans feel very positive towards Burnley Football Club. In the Premier League last season, on average only 48% of fans felt very positive towards their club. 

Furthermore, 85% strongly agree that the club is ‘well-run’, compared to 70% in 2016/17 and 46% in 2014/15. The PL average for 2017/18 is 41%.
