Under-23s Aim To Clip Swans' Wings

Clarets back in Premier League Cup action with tough trip to South Wales

22 January 2018

The Clarets face a second Premier League Cup tie in five days at Swansea City today (Monday) as they look to keep their qualification hopes on track.

Michael Duff’s under-23 side lost 4-0 to Newcastle United last Thursday to slip off top spot in Group D.

And they face another tough test in Wales this afternoon against a Swansea side that plays in the top tier of Premier League Two.

The Swans beat Chelsea in their last league game and currently sit in fifth place in the table.

But they have won just one of their first two games in the PL Cup and trail the Clarets by three points.

And with the top two in the group qualifying for the knock-out phase of the competition, avoiding defeat at Swansea’s Fairwood training ground (KO 1pm) will keep Burnley firmly in the hunt.

Duff will again select from a youthful squad as the Clarets look for a first win in four games.

Live up-dates from the game will be available via @BurnleyOfficial on Twitter.
