The Clarets’ youth team takes on in-form Birmingham City on Saturday with both sides eyeing possible top spot in the U18 Professional Development League.
Burnley knocked previous leaders Bolton out of pole position with a 4-1 win last weekend in their first league game since November.
And a win over the Blues at the Barnfield Training Centre (kick-off 12 noon) will put Danny Cadamarteri’s youngsters top of the pile if leaders Huddersfield Town fail to beat Sheffield Wednesday.
However, Birmingham head to Padiham on the back of a run of four wins in five games, including an FA Youth Cup success over Sheffield United on Tuesday night.
Steve Spooner’s side also beat Burnley 3-2 in the league’s northern group back in October and they would claim top spot with victory over the Clarets coupled with defeat for Huddersfield and anything but victory for Leeds United at home to Nottingham Forest.
