Point In Final Game Enough For Clarets

12 February 2018

A draw at home to Swansea City in the Clarets’ final group game in the Premier League Cup will be enough to take Michael Duff’s side into the knock-out stages.

Swansea’s 1-1 draw with leaders Newcastle United on Monday afternoon means Burnley remain second in Group D.

And a point against the Welshmen at Curzton Ashton on Monday, 26 February therefore means the Clarets will be guaranteed a top-two spot and a place in the last 16 of the under-23 competition.

Swansea led Newcastle through a Botti Biabi goal but the Geordies avoided a second defeat in the competition thanks to Owen Bailey's late header.
