On The Way To Essex For U23s

Clarets bid to move off bottom spot with win at Colchester

9 April 2018

The Under-23s continue their bid to climb off the foot of the table when they meet Colchester United this afternoon at the Us’ Florence Park training ground (KO 1pm).

The Clarets have five games to go in their Professional Development League campaign, with four of them away from home.

The run starts in Essex with a third meeting between the two clubs following a win apiece in the group stages of the Premier League Cup.

Burnley won the home meeting 4-0 but then lost 3-0 at Colchester in February during a testing mid-season run for Michael Duff’s side.

But the Clarets have won four of their last seven games, including last Friday’s 1-0 victory over Crewe at Turf Moor, and three points this afternoon would lift Duff’s men above Barnsley at the foot of the northern group.

Colchester are second from bottom of the south group after a run of four straight league defeats.

Up-dates of the game will be available via the Clarets’ Twitter account @burnleyofficial
