Outstanding support from East Lancashire businesses has resulted in Burnley FC in the Community’s (BFCitC) second annual charity dinner raising over £32k for the charity.
Sponsored by Bowker Motor Group, the dinner was co-hosted by television presenter Andy Hodgson and John Riding at The Fence Gate and welcomed over 200 guests to the black-tie event.
Amongst the attendees was Burnley FC Manager Sean Dyche, Club Chairman Mike Garlick and MP for Burnley, Julie Cooper who all joined together to celebrate the many achievements of BFCitC over the past 12 months.
With a focus on individual success stories, a number of ‘Special Recognition’ awards were handed out to project participants over the course of the evening before a thrilling auction took place with a number of money-can’t-buy prizes up for grabs.
The substantial funds raised from Friday night’s event will go to supporting the non-profit work Burnley FC’s official charity carries out on a daily basis across the communities surrounding Turf Moor. In the last 12 months alone, Burnley FC in the Community has invested £2.4m into communities as it continues its mission to inspire, support and deliver positive change.
Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer for Burnley FC in the Community said: “We are overwhelmed with the support we received on Friday night – the event was a real highlight of the season for us and the vital funds raised will help us continue to carry out our life-changing work in the local area.
“We wanted to place the focus on some of the special people we work with and we were proud to celebrate each and every one of them on what proved to be an emotionally charged night.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who spent the evening with us, supporting our work and reflecting on what a remarkable moment we are enjoying in the history of the club – both on and off the field. Long may it continue.”
