Ashley Barnes has been rewarded for a record-equalling month by being crowned as the Dafabet Player of the Month for March.
The Clarets’ striker was in scintillating form during the month as he became only the second Burnley player, after Sam Vokes, to score in four successive Premier League games.
Barnes, who had ended February by scoring in a 1-1 draw against Southampton, then found the net at home to Everton and away at West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion to become the first Claret to score in four top-flight games in a row in the same season since John Murray in 1968.
His goal-scoring streak helped set up the Clarets’ five-game winning run which was finally ended by Chelsea when Barnes got the on the scoresheet again in a 2-1 defeat to the deposed champions.
Barnes joins the roll of honour for the season that reads as follows:
August: Robbie Brady
September: James Tarkowski
October: Nick Pope
November: Johann Berg-Gudmundsson
December: Steven Defour
January: Johann Berg-Gudmundsson
February: Nick Pope
March: Ashley Barnes
