Danny Cadamarteri faces his former club as the Clarets’ youth team takes on northern group opposition for the first time in the Professional Development League on Saturday.
Burnley are at home to Sheffield Wednesday (kick-off 11am) following a reversal in the fixtures.
And that will pit the Clarets’ under-18 coach against the side he led last season, when the Owls reached the national play-offs of the competition.
Wednesday are unbeaten this season, to sit one spot below second-placed Burnley in the northern section.
And Cadamarteri’s side has not lost since the opening day, having completed their first bout of fixtures against sides from the southern group – who they face just once over the course of the campaign.
“We’ve done and dusted our trips down south for now and put our mark on the southern section, so that’s great, and we’re just delighted to have kept a little bit of a run going,” said Cadamarteri.
The Clarets are again without second-years Olly Younger and Dwight McNeil, who are likely to be involved with the under-23s at Hull City next Monday night, as well as Leighton Egan and Scott Wilson.
