Clarets Top FA Respect Table

27 November 2017

Burnley Football Club is proud to announce that the club has topped the Premier League’s Respect table for the 2016/2017 season.
The table, that falls within the FA’s Respect Programme, recognises conduct both on and off the pitch and as a result of the notable accolade, the club’s official charity, Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC), has been rewarded £20,000.
This grant will be utilised by BFCitC to support the delivery of its charitable work in Burnley and the surrounding areas.
Using the conduct of the Burnley FC players as inspiration, the core behaviours of fairness, integrity, inclusion and respect will continue to be immersed into every project delivered by the BFCitC team.
This funding will focus on reducing the health inequalities that exist in Burnley and the surrounding areas.
Club chairman Mike Garlick said: “I am delighted that we have been named as the Premier League ‘Respect’ award winners for last season.
"This backs up our community ethos off the pitch, while on it the award is gauged on a points basis, with criteria such as respect to match officials, opposing players, and our disciplinary record.
"This is the third time in four seasons we have won such an award. This year, the £20,000 prize for our Community Trust will further develop and enhance projects and programmes that will benefit even more people.
"It’s just another way we are moving forwards as a club and, as Chairman, I couldn’t be prouder.”
Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer of Burnley FC in the Community added: “It comes as no surprise to me that the Burnley FC players have topped this important table.
"They already work really closely with us a charity, supporting our projects and helping us to touch the lives of so many people in our community.
"This is just another way that their sense of integrity, fair play and respect will benefit our whole community.
"They are remarkable role models and we offer our thanks to them for helping us secure this fantastic reward.”
