Burnley FC in the Community’s October half term Soccer Schools have been a rip-roaring success - and spirits were high on the penultimate day when some of the first team squad made special guest appearances at two of the venues.
Participants at the Bacup & Rawtenstall Grammar School and Elite Training Centre, Turf Moor venues were delighted to be joined by Sam Vokes, Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson and Nick Pope.
Star striker Vokes visited Bacup & Rawtenstall and Guðmundsson and Pope stopped by the Turf Moor venue to surprise the attendees, aged 5-12 years, and join in some fixtures, pose for pictures and sign autographs.
The team also took the opportunity to offer the budding young players tips, advice to improve their game and ensure they get the most of the experience.
Burnley FC in the Community Sports Development Manager, Sam Howell said: “It was fantastic to have Sam, Jóhann and Nick join us at BFCitC Soccer Schools, all of the children absolutely loved meeting them.”
“Many of the children are avid Burnley fans and go to Turf Moor to watch games, so to have the opportunity to play a match alongside the professionals is fantastic.
"It’s also really great to see the players getting involved with the local community and engaging with all the participants.
"I’d like to say a huge thank you to the players for taking the time to come to the sessions, our Soccer School programmes are a fantastic way to spend the holidays and extra special visits such as this are a real added benefit!”
