BFCitC score a North West Football Awards hat-trick

Burnley FC in the Community picked up the prize for Community Club of the Year (Premier League) at this year’s North West Football Awards.

This is the third year in a row Burnley FC’s official charity have claimed the prestigious Community Club of the Year award, winning for a Premier League season in 2015 and again in 2016 as part of the All Other Leagues category.

The organisation fought off tough competition from Premier League big-hitters, including Everton in the Community, Manchester City in the Community and the Liverpool FC Foundation.

This award comes just two weeks after BFCitC were honoured at the Football Business Awards in London for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme.

Brian Nelson, Chair of Trustees for BFCitC and Burnley FC Director said: “As both the Chair of Trustees for BFCitC and a Club Director, I want to offer my congratulations to the whole team.

"To claim Community Club of the Year for three consecutive years is something everyone at Burnley FC is so proud of. The club is right behind the work of BFCitC and this award shows once again that community is everything here at Burnley FC. Long may it continue.”

Burnley FC in the Community is the official charity of Burnley FC. During the 2016/2017 season, the charity engaged with over 24,000 individual participants, working with a cross-section of the communities surrounding Turf Moor.

Delivering sporting and education opportunities, health and wellbeing projects and supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the area, the charity aims to use the power of Burnley FC to create positive, lasting change.
