Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) is delighted to announce that the charity’s annual Community Day will be celebrated at the Burnley v Manchester United fixture on Sunday, 23 April.
In an exciting change from last year’s festivities, Burnley FC’s official charity will be teaming up with Pendleside Hospice for the event which will see the matchday ‘taken over’ by both charities and themed around their work.
The day will aim to both raise awareness and drive vital funds to support both charities and is part of a wider partnership, announced earlier this year, that will see the two organisations collaborate on a number of upcoming events.
Community Day is an important date in Burnley FC in the Community’s calendar. Last year, the hugely successful campaign fell on the Burnley v Leeds United fixture and raised over £10,000 to support the charity’s many community projects including disability sport, social inclusion projects for local young people and weekly provision for senior citizens. Amongst other activities, the day included a stadium-wide bucket collection.

This year, the aim is to double that target with all funds raised being split 50/50 between Burnley FC in the Community and Pendleside Hospice – a charity close to the heart of many local people.
Neil Hart, CEO of Burnley FC in the Community said: “Community Day is vital to the work of our charity, as the spotlight falling on our work not only helps to raise awareness of the work we’re doing to support over 20,000 people locally, but also helps to ensure we can continue that work through fundraising.
"This year, we are so proud to be sharing that platform with Pendleside Hospice. We’re encouraging each and every fan to get behind this unique event and come together to support our two, very special charities.”
Helen McVey, CEO of Pendleside Hospice said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Burnley FC in the Community on the annual Charity Community Day being held in April.
"This is the first of a number of events that will see us come together to raise vital funds to support the work of both charities. I am sure it will be a great day enjoyed by all.”
There are a wealth of activities planned for Community Day. Keep your eyes peeled on BFCitC’s and Pendleside Hospice’s websites and social media channels for updates in the lead up to the big day.
