Community Supports Mental Health Awareness

31 March 2017

Just as everyone has a physical health, everyone has a mental health and there can be times in our lives when we can experience a dip in either.

At Saturday’s Burnley FC v Tottenham Hotspur FC fixture, in partnership with Lancashire Care NHS and Alzheimer’s Society, we’re aiming to raise awareness for mental health and wellbeing. We want to highlight just how normal it is to experience a low point in your mental health and showcase, should you find you need it, the many ways you will find help and support waiting for you.

On matchday, the Alzheimer’s Society will be stationed in the Fanzone prior to kick-off. The friendly team has lots of available information on hand about their services across East Lancashire and the volunteer opportunities they have within the charity.

To find out more information about the work of Alzheimers Society East Lancashire and how you can get involved, please call 01282 421 233.

The first team show their support

Also, keep your eyes peeled at half time. The Burnley FC first team have shown their support for Community’s commitment to promoting mental health by supporting our campaign with a special awareness-raising video.

The support number featured in the video, should you miss, it is 01282 657 268.

However, our focus on mental health is not just confined to Saturday’s matchday - we will be supporting numerous mental health awareness initiatives in the coming months.

Dementia Friends

Burnley FC in the Community will be hosting two Dementia Friends training sessions at Turf Moor that are open to anyone who would like to come along:
