New Appointments To Aid A Better Burnley

Operations Manager and Supporter Liaison Officer strengthen off-the-field operation and improve supporter service

The Clarets have recently made two new appointments to strengthen the infrastructure of the club and help improve service to supporters.

Long-serving employee Nick Taylor (above) has become Marketing and Operations Manager, while Harriet Harbidge has joined the Clarets as the new Supporter Liaison Officer.

Nick has spent 10 years at Turf Moor, initially in marketing and commercial, and is now responsible for over-seeing marketing, retail, ticketing, group sales, media and supporter liaison to give a more co-ordinated approach to the business.

He has recently been responsible for co-ordinating the introduction of the club’s new fully responsive website – which is better suited to all inter-active devices – and a local-rate phone line general enquiries and reduced rate ticket hotline.

“Getting to the Premier League has allowed us to be a bit more pro-active in terms of getting things up-and-running like this,” said Nick.

“One thing that has always been an issue with a club this size has been human resource.

“There are a lot of things you would like to do that would make things easier from the fans’ side of things and the day-to-day working process within the club, which in turn goes around to helping the fans again because we are able to cater for things a little easier.

“Being in the Premier League for the third time over the last six or seven years has meant we have had the resources to bring people in to do new things and concentrate more on specific issues to improve the club’s operation for everyone.”

Harriet was previously a project support officer for a local authority in West Yorkshire before taking on the supporter liaison role at Turf Moor.

She is now responsible for all fan-related matters from complaints and queries, to ticketing issues, supporter access and match information.

She also provides a direct link between the club and the supporters and a contact point for fans on match and non-match days.

“People aren’t always aware necessarily of the huge operation that goes on behind the scenes at football clubs and don’t know who to contact or get in touch with over various issues,” said Harriet.

“I think having that one dedicated person they can go to with any fan-related query is very important. If there is a central person who supporters can go to and get all the information they need, it makes things easier and more accessible.”

Harriet attends all supporter liaison forums and is a visible presence at Turf Moor on match-day to help fans get the most out of supporting the Clarets.

“Everybody deserves to have a good match-day, whether it’s the first time or they have been coming for 40/50 years, as some of our fans have,” she added.

“I’m especially interested in making sure that the youngsters have a good time because they are the future of Burnley. Without keen support, we wouldn’t really exist.”
