Burnley FC in the Community’s Health department are committed to running several Men’s Healthy Weight courses throughout the year for males who would like to improve their overall state of health and lose weight. The free programme involves a comprehensive 12-week delivery plan which includes regular health checks that assess body weight, hydration, visceral fat, body fat, muscle mass and physical age. The next 12-week programme is due to start on Monday, 19th June, 8-9pm and is open for men to join!
Throughout the course, fully trained staff members from Burnley FC in the Community will deliver circuit, HIIT, cardio and body weight style sessions, conduct fitness testing and incorporate a variety of sports and recreational activities to educate and guide on improving a participant’s overall health.
Previous participant Mark, 39 years of age said: “I really enjoyed the Men’s Healthy Weight course, I used to look forward to it every week. It’s the fun aspect of being fit with diet, food swaps and exercise tips throughout.”
Ian, 38 years of age, took part in a course held earlier in the year and said: “It was an enjoyable way to exercise. There’s a great atmosphere and spirit among the attendees, I felt motivated to come every single week.”
Since the programme started in 2015, Burnley FC in the Community have worked with over 200 males to help them to become more active and lead a healthier lifestyle.
Ian regularly attended the gym but he was not achieving the results and changes he desired. When asked for his reason for joining the programme in 2016, he said: “I wasn’t getting the results I wanted in the gym, I was bored and not sure where I was going wrong.”
The Men’s Healthy Weight programme includes regular health checks as well as fitness testing. Ian saw a great improvement to his fitness levels as well as a reduction in weight and body fat and an improvement in his fitness levels.
When asked about his time on the programme Ian stated, “I don’t think I have felt this positive about exercise in the last ten years. I am determined to stay healthy and I think my attendance on the programme puts me in a strong position to be able to do this. I’m also more careful with the foods I choose now, particularly when snacking!”
Ian’s good work didn’t just finish when the course ended either! He set himself a challenge and successfully completed the Burnley 10k at the beginning of June to help raise funds for Burnley FC in the Community.
