Lowton Wants Saints To See 'Real' Burnley

11 January 2017

Matt Lowton wants Burnley to show their true colours against Southampton on Saturday.

The Clarets lost 3-1 at Southampton in October following a below-par display at the St Mary’s Stadium.

But Lowton expects Sean Dyche’s men to be a different proposition when the two sides meet again at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The defender said: “We’ve already played them once and didn’t give a good account of ourselves.

“They had a 15-minute period where they scored a couple of goals and took the game away from us.

“In the earlier part of the season away from home we weren’t doing what we normally do.

“I’m sure they’ll know as much as we do that we’re a different team at home and I’m sure they’re not looking forward to coming to Turf Moor.

“We’ll go out there and try to make sure that we get in their faces and take our chances like we have done in the last few home games.”

Charlie Austin scored twice against his former club in October but will miss the return through injury

The Clarets have taken 22 points from 11 matches at Turf Moor this season, with back-to-back home wins over Christmas helping to propel them up to 12th-place in the Premier League.

“Our home form has been key for us this season and has been our strongest point so far, so it’s important to keep that going,” added Lowton, who sat out at last Saturday’s FA Cup third-round draw at Sunderland.

“The home form is key for any team really, but it is obviously showing just how big it is for us.”
