Joey Barton completed 90 minutes and helped the Clarets' Development Squad beat Fleetwood Town 1-0 at the Barnfield Training Centre.
Barton, who Burnley confirmed on Monday had agreed a contract with the club until the end of the season, was given a run-out as he continues to build up his fitness levels.
A second-half penalty from Jamie Thomas was enough to give Michael Jolley's side victory as they bounced back from their heavy loss at Newcastle last week.
Burnley also included Josh Ginnelly, following his return from a loan spell at Walsall, and Ntumba Massanka, who ended a loan stay at Morecambe on Monday.
Alex Whitmore, who also spent the first half of the season with the Shrimpers, was among the substitutes.
The Clarets were largely dominant in testing conditions and Massanka came close early on as the young striker picked up the ball inside the box before forcing a brilliant save from Matt Urwin.
Jamie Thomas got the only goal of the game
Minutes later Robbie Leitch also threatened with an effort that fizzed just over the bar after Ginnelly did well to beat his man out wide before finding Leitch in the box.
Winger Ginnelly was heavily involved in the first half and nearly opened the scoring when he cut inside before Urwin turned his shot round the post for a corner.
With the wind and rain making life awkward, Burnley did their best to counter the conditions and got the winner eight minutes after the break when they were awarded a penalty for hand-ball.
Thomas stepped up and slotted home via the inside of the right-hand post to put Jolley's men ahead.
Fleetwood went in search of the equaliser but the Clarets stood firm and threatened on the counter-attack, Arlen Birch going close to a second goal when the full-back found space on the left and forced Urwin into another save.
Burnley: Pope, Birch, Dunne, Olomewewe, Mpofu, Jackson, Thomas (Yao 66) Barton/Trialist, Ginnelly, Leitch (Jumeau 45). Subs not used: Aghayere, Whitmore.
