Appointments In Recruitment Department

Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce the following new appointments in the recruitment department.

Nicky Law (Head of Academy Recruitment, 16-21 Focus)
Nicky, pictured above, joins the club from Alfreton Town, where he has been the manager for the last 10 years.
Nicky brings a wealth of experience to the role and has previously been manager at Bradford City in the Championship, Grimsby Town and Chesterfield.
He has identified and developed a number of young players over the years, for example,  Aden Flint at 17 (currently at Bristol City), Kyle McFadzean at 18 (currently Burton Albion) and gave current AFC Bournemouth captain, Simon Francis his league debut at 17 years old after bringing him from the South Notts College programme.
Nicky will work closely with the U18 and U23 coaches, Jonathan Pepper (Academy Manager) and Chris Sulley (Head of Coaching) in identifying and recruiting any players in these age-groups.
Nicky will also be responsible for monitoring any players on loan from the U23 Development Squad.

Geoff McDougle (Head of Local Recruitment, 12-16 Focus)
Geoff joins the club from Morecambe, where he has been operating as a Chief Scout. Geoff brings a wealth of experience to the recruitment role within Youth football where he has previously had full-time roles at Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.
Geoff, who lives locally, will be responsible for developing the local recruitment strategy for the ages 12-16 and work closely with Tom Reeves in the recruitment department and Nicky together with the Lead Phase coaches, Jonathan Pepper and Chris Sulley as well as our successful Community programme and junior clubs in the local area.

Academy manager Jon Pepper said: “The appointment of two new members of staff to the Academy further emphasises the club’s intent to build a strong infrastructure in produce home-grown talent and develop young players, in line with our move towards Category Two Academy status and the new Barnfield Training Centre.” 

Tom Reeves who has worked for the Club full-time since September 2015 as an Academy Recruitment Officer also joins as Head of Recruitment for the Pre-Academy/Foundation Phase (5-12 Focus).

The appointments commence on February 1.
