Second-half goals from Jamie Thomas and Dan Agyei (above) saw the Clarets come from 2-0 down to earn a draw at Carlisle.
The Burnley side contained a mixture of trialists and a number of players Development Squad coach Michael Jolley is likely to utilise in next Monday's Premier League Cup tie at Cardiff City.
Carlisle, watched by first-team boss Keith Curle, started strongly and went ahead after just 10 minutes when youngster Rhys Groves who headed in from a corner.
Jimmy Dunne then headed just over following a free-kick and Agyei rolled a shot inches past the post as the Clarets went close to an equaliser.
But just before the 30-minute mark the home side doubled their lead through a trialist of their own.
The Clarets came out in the second half looking a better side and came close to pulling one back early on when Agyei rifled a shot just wide.
Jolley made a double change with Taofiq Olomewewe and Freddy Yao both coming on.
Olomewewe slotted into the rightback role and made an instant impact, with a few darting runs, before hitting a rising effort just over the bar.
But Burnley did get back into it when Thomas picked up the ball just outside the area and ran through before dinking the ball over the advancing keeper to make it 2-1.
And a few minutes later Ageyi bagged the equaliser after a driving run into the box and a smart finish.
It looked as if Burnley could then grab a late winner late but rather than pick out Olomewewe, Agyei went for goal and was denied by the Carlisle keeper.
Burnley: Mitchell, Dunne, Trialist, Trialist (Yao 58), Trialist, Leitch (Olomewewe 58), Birch, Trialist, Thomas, Agyei, Trialist.
