The Under-23s return to action tonight when they take on Hull City at Curzon Ashton (7pm).
Michael Duff’s side has been without a game in almost a month following successive postponements due to the bad weather.
But they will be looking to sign off for Christmas with a fourth win of the campaign in the Professional Development League against a Hull side sitting sixth place in the northern division – three places above the Clarets.
The two sides drew 0-0 on Humberside in September.
Duff will select from his under-23 squad, with no senior players on duty.
Meanwhile, the Clarets have re-arranged two of their league fixtures.
The game against Sheffield Wednesday, postponed earlier this month, will now be played Thursday, 1 March at the Owls’ training ground (1pm).
And the Clarets’ home fixture against Nottingham Forest scheduled for Monday, 15 January will now be played on Thursday, 8 March at Curzon Ashton (7pm) due to Forest’s involvement in the FA Youth Cup on the original date.
