Sean Dyche feels his hungry strike-force is helping to keep Burnley firmly on the front foot.
In recent weeks, Sam Vokes, Ashley Barnes and, latterly, the returning Chris Wood have all come up with crucial goals to keep the Clarets’ points tally ticking over.
And the gaffer has been delighted at the way his players have grabbed their chance to continue to give him a headache in his team selection.
He said: "They have all been terrific. Barnesy has led the line really well in recent weeks, Sam (Vokes) is chomping at the bit and scored a great goal recently at Southampton.
“Don’t forget Nahki Wells is breathing down their necks by the way, and Jon Walters is just returning.
“So it’s a healthy place for those boys at the moment and there’s a really nice feel about that competition at the minute.
“That’s an important factor because not only do you want players who can score goals, but you want them to be stimulated to go and do well and they are doing that at the minute.”
Dyche, who recalled Wood for a goalscoring return at Bournemouth in midweek following his exertions back to New Zealand for their World Cup quiaIfying play-off double header against Peru, added: “To keep yourself right when you are not playing regularly is tough.
“But I always say that the professional standards we put in, and the way they deliver them, will pay you back.
“I like to think players like to play and I think we get enough rest and recovery to make sure all the lads are in good health. I believe in them all, but I believe in the group as a whole.”
