Jon Walters has delivered Ireland a World Cup boost ahead of their crucial double-header against Georgia and Serbia.
Walters missed Burnley's 1-1 draw against Tottenham at Wembley last Sunday after suffering an ankle injury in last week's Carabao Cup win over Blackburn Rovers.
But the Clarets' striker returned to light training on Wednesday as part of the Irish squad which flies out to Georgia on Thursday.
The two countries meet in a qualifier on Saturday before Ireland and Serbia - currently joint Group D leaders - face-off in Dublin next Tuesday night.
Walters scored Ireland's equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Austria in June and boss Martin O'Neill will be keen to award the 33-year-old, who joined the Clarets from Stoke City earlier this summer, a 50th cap in his country's quest to reach the 2018 finals in Russia.
Burnley team mate Stephen Ward said: "He seems to be stepping up every day. He's doing everything he can to be fit. Fingers crossed he'll be okay."
