17 August 2017

The Clarets have won the League Managers' Association ‘LG Performance of the Week’ award for their opening-day victory at Chelsea.

A five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson and former managers Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, decided the 3-2 win over the champions at Stamford Bridge merited the prize.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche will receive a specially engraved trophy in recognition of the award, as well as a celebratory bottle of champagne courtesy of Tanners Wines.
First-half goal from Sam Vokes, two, and Stephen Ward gave the Clarets their first opening-day victory in the Premier League, as Chelsea lost on the first day of a season for the first time since 1998.
